Uninstall and reinstall a Jukebox player under Windows 2000/ME/98SE

Summary:

    • If you have a NOMAD jukebox player such as ZEN Sleek, ZEN Touch, ZEN Xtra, ZEN NX, Jukebox ZEN, Jukebox 3, Jukebox 2 or the original NOMAD Jukebox, you can manually uninstall and then reinstall its drivers if you experience any of the following symptoms

You can manually uninstall and then reinstall its drivers if

    There is an error message during automatic driver installation
    The player has an error code in Device Manager
    The player is not detected in Creative MediaSource or Creative PlayCenter, or Windows Media Player
    Windows can not find neccessary drivers.

To uninstall a Jukebox player

This procedure should only be taken if the normal software uninstallation routine (Add/Remove Programs wizard in Control Panel) fails to uninstall the jukebox drivers and application.

It is recommended that you back up your system registry and create a system restore point if you are using Windows XP before manually uninstalling any applications or drivers. For more information about creating a Restore Point or backing up system registry, please refer to Windows' online Help and Support.

  1. Detach your MP3 player from your system.
  2. Click on Start, then Control Panel. Double click on Add and Remove Programs wizard, and click on the programs such as Playcenter or Creative MediaSource that you wish to uninstall from your system.
  3. Open Windows Explorer, then click on View, and select Options or Folder Options. Check the box next to "Show all files" option if it is not checked.
  4. Find and delete the following files:
  5. C:\Program Files\Creative\Jukebox Driver
    C:\Program Files\Creative\ShareDLL\ctnmjb.dll
    C:\Program Files\Creative\ShareDLL\ctnmjb2.dll
    C:\Program Files\Creative\ShareDLL\ServProd
    C:\Program Files\Creative\ShareDLL\ServProd\CTJBProg.dll
    C:\WINDOWS\System32\CtDrvIns.exe
    C:\WINDOWS\System32\CtMp3Lib.dll
    C:\WINDOWS\System32\CtNmBnd.exe
    C:\WINDOWS\System32\CtNmBRes.dll
    C:\WINDOWS\System32\CTWMATag.dll

Restart your PC once all the files listed above are deleted. Your MP3 player is now completely uninstalled from your system

To reinstall a Jukebox player

  1. Disconnect your player if it is connected to your PC .
  2. Restart your PC into Safe Mode
  3. If you are using Windows 98SE/ME/Windows 2000, click Start, Run, type MSCONFIG and click OK. Select the Startup tab. Uncheck all programs. Click OK and reboot when prompted. *(Note: If you are running Windows 2000 MSCONFIG is not available.)

    If you are using Windows XP, click Start, Run, type MSCONFIG and click OK. Check the box next to Selective Startup and deselect Load Startup Items. Select the SERVICES tab and select Hide All Microsoft Services, and click on Disable All and click Apply then Close.

  4. Restart computer in safe mode.
  5. Insert the installation CD-ROM disc into the CD-ROM drive, and cancel the installation when it autoruns.
  6. Double click on My Computer in your desktop
  7. Right click on the CD-ROM drive, then select Explorer. Click on the Drivers folder, then the English folder.
  8. If you have a NOMAD Jukebox 2, Jukebox 3, ZEN, ZEN NX, or ZEN NX Xtra, double click on the DRV_JB3.EXE file and follow the instructions on the screen.

    If you have an original Jukebox, or Jukebox C, double click on DRV_JB.EXE file, and and follow the instructions on the screen.

  9. Leave the CD in the CD-ROM drive. When prompted to restart your PC , restart your PC .
  10. Click the Finish button to complete the installation.
  11. Connect your player to your PC .
  12. Verify the Device Status in Device Manager, or Creative MediaSource. Your player should be listed under the Sources panel in Creative MediaSource.
  13. To return computer to normal startup, click Start, Run, type MSCONFIG and click OK, and select Normal Startup and restart computer.
  14. Reboot when prompted.

If the difficulty persists with your player, you can use the Windows Drivers Update wizard to reinstall the its drivers.

  1. Click Start, Run, type MSCONFIG and click OK.
  2. Select the Startup tab. Uncheck all programs. Click OK and reboot when prompted. . *(Note: If you are running Windows 2000 MSCONFIG is not available. Restart computer in safe mode)
  3. Right click on the My Computer icon in your desktop, and go to Properties, then Hardware and Device Manager.
  4. If the drivers are installed correctly, the NOMAD Jukebox ZEN NX or Xtra will be listed under "Universal Serial Bus Controllers" without any error. If it has an yellow exclamation mark, right click on it, and choose 'Uninstall'.
  5. Close Device Manager.
  6. Unplug your player if it is plugged to your PC . Wait for 10 seconds, and then plug it back into your PC. The 'Found New Hardware" wizard should appear. Choose to install the drivers from a list or Specify location and then Next.
  7. Choose 'Do not search for the drivers, I will choose the drivers to install' and then next.
  8. When it asks you for the hardware type, scroll down to 'Windows CE USB device', Click on it to highlight it and click on Next.
  9. When it prompts you for the drivers, choose Have Disk, then click Browse.
  10. If you are installing a NOMAD Jukebox 2, Jukebox 3, ZEN, ZEN NX, or ZEN NX Xtra, browse to the folder C:\Program Files\Creative\Jukebox 3 drivers, and double click it to open it. If your player is connected via USB port, highlight the file labeled CTPDUSB.INF and click OPEN;

    If your player is connected via its 1394/Firewire port, e to a 1394/Firewire port, highlight the file labeled CTPD1394.INF and click OPEN.

    If you have an original Jukebox, browse to the folder C:\Program Files\Creative\Jukebox Drivers, and double click on the folder to open it, and select the file labeled OASISUSB.INF and click on OPEN.

  11. Click OK and then NEXT
  12. If the microsoft certification window appears, select 'Continue Anyway'. The installation should complete.
  13. When the wizard completes, click FINISH.
  14. Verify the Device Status in Device Manager, or Creative MediaSource. Your player should be listed under the Sources panel in Creative MediaSource.
  15. To return computer to normal startup, click Start, Run, type MSCONFIG and click OK.
  16. Select Normal Startup and restart computer.
  17. Reboot when prompted.
